Bengaluru heist: Armed ‘RBI officials’ swipe off Rs 7 crore  ..

In a dramatic daylight theft in Bengaluru, a gang of men posing as RBI officials executed a highly coordinated heist, escaping with nearly ₹7 crore from an ATM cash van. The impostors intercepted the van while it was transporting cash for ATM replenishment, claiming they needed to conduct a verification check. Armed and dressed to appear official, they forced the staff—including the driver and security personnel—into their own vehicles before driving the van to a different location. There, the gang transferred the money into a getaway vehicle and fled after removing the van’s DVR to wipe internal CCTV evidence. The incident, which unfolded in a busy area, has raised serious concerns about security lapses, and Bengaluru Police have formed special teams to investigate, review CCTV footage, and probe possible insider involvement.

Karnataka high court orders setting up unified digital platform for solid waste management

Bengaluru: Karnataka high court has called for the establishment of an integrated technology-driven solid waste management (SWM) governance framework in Bengaluru. The city is plagued by blackspots – areas of recurrent unauthorised garbage dumping that pose a significant threat to public health and the urban environment. The court observed that SWM is not merely a statutory duty of municipal corporations, but a constitutional obligation linked to the fundamental right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution. It held that the current situation constitutes a grave public nuisance exacerbated by irregular and inefficient waste collection services, which leave citizens with few viable disposal options and foster illegal dumping.
